Football Club`s Indoor Training Pitch at The Academy in Kirkby

This new training
facility, measuring approximately seventy by forty metres, is
housed in a purpose built steel framed building with a curved
beam roof.
A smooth block
work surface extends up to four metres above the pitch but the
steel frames, exterior cladding, and all the cables and pipes
above, gave a very irregular surface. This would have caused
problems with balls getting stuck behind the frames, damage to
the services and cladding, as well as unpredictable rebounds.
White polythene netting was installed on all vertical surfaces,
attached to the blockwork and steel frames, and then tensioned
for minimum deflection.
